MAUI

The ship arrived at the Kahului port this morning about 8:00 a.m.

I had a wonderful buffet breakfast in the Aloha Cafe on board before leaving the ship.

I then hiked to downtown Kahului.

The Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is the focal point of downtown as well as shopping and transportation hub.

I then hiked about 2 miles along Kaahumanu Avenue, the main thoroughfare, to the Wailuku Historic District and did a walking tour of the town.

Territorial Building (late 1920's)
Two-story stucco & stone building designed by C.W. Dickey.

Bailey House (1833)
Was originally home of missionaries Jonathan & Theodotia Green.
Built on the site of the Royal compound of Kahekili, last ruling Chief of Maui.

Bailey House - Adjoining Building (1837)
Wailuku Female Seminary
Used to educate young Hawaiian women in the Christian lifestyle.

I returned back to the ship in the afternoon and took a nap before dinner.
Later that night I had wonderful meal in the Skyline Restaurant on board.
Afterward, I saw a very fine show in the Hollywood Theater called "Showtime Tonight! Aloha Polynesia" with spectacular traditional dancing from Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga and the islands of Hawaii.

My Stateroom Steward, Jonathan, does origami and also some amazing folding of towels.
This greeted me tonight on returning to my room!
